"Orphaned Wikipedian" is a title that can be given to any registered user who has made at least 1000 edits without having recorded an edit count. It was created to highlight users whose work may have been overlooked, and to make sure their contributions are not forgotten. This title will automatically be removed if the user's edit count increases above 1000. This title will only be given to users who have made at least 1000 edits on another Wikimedia project before being granted this title on English Wikipedia. For example, an editor with 3,000 edits on French Wikipedia who then makes 400 edits on English Wikipedia would not qualify for the "Orphaned Wikipedian" title. On the other hand, an editor with 5 edits on English Wikipedia who then makes 3,000 edits on French Wikipedia would qualify for the "Orphaned Wikipedian" title. An editor cannot apply for this title. It is given at the discretion of the user community based on edit count and contributions to other Wikimedia projects (if any). It is available to all users with a registered account. A user may be given the "Orphaned Wikipedian" title multiple times if they accumulate 1000 or more deleted edits in a single month or edit count otherwise drops below 1000 and they qualify for it again. This is because a user who has been given the "Orphaned Wikipedian" title in the past may have had their edit count reduced to below 1000 for a variety of reasons. In such cases, when they again qualify for the "Orphaned Wikipedian" title, it simply means that they have been given that title multiple times. As it is possible for an account to be both blocked and an orphan, editors with a blocked account may also qualify for the "Orphaned Wikipedian" title. However, if a user's account is no longer blocked after their edits increase above 1000, the "Orphaned Wikipedian" title will be removed. Once an editor has been given the "Orphaned Wikipedian" title, they will not lose it if their edit count falls below 1000. For instance, if a user with 700 edits made 200 edits and then had their account blocked, they would retain the "Orphaned Wikipedian" title without having to re-qualify for it. If a user's account is subsequently unblocked and their edit count drops back down to 700, the "Orphaned Wikipedian" title will remain. The first editor to have been given this title was Danny B. on June 3, 2007 after he became a member of WikiProject Deletion Review (WP:DR). eccc085e13
